Honeybee-Apiculture

Honey Bee (Apiculture) Promotion by KVK, Bamanwara (Jalore-II)
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Bamanwara (Jalore-II) promotes honey bee rearing (apiculture) as an important component of sustainable agriculture and income diversification for farmers in the arid and semi-arid regions of Rajasthan. Through trainings, demonstrations and skill development programmes, KVK creates awareness about scientific beekeeping practices and their role in enhancing crop productivity through pollination.
KVK, Bamanwara provides technical guidance on the selection of suitable bee species, hive management, seasonal management, disease and pest control, and hygienic honey extraction methods. Farmers are trained to integrate beekeeping with agricultural and horticultural crops such as mustard, cumin, coriander and vegetables, which are commonly grown in the region.
Apiculture promoted by KVK has helped farmers generate additional income through the production of quality honey and other bee products like beeswax. At the same time, the presence of honey bees improves pollination efficiency, resulting in higher yield and better quality of crops. By encouraging beekeeping as a low-investment and eco-friendly enterprise, KVK, Bamanwara supports livelihood enhancement, employment generation for rural youth and women, and the overall sustainability of farming systems in the district.
